Meet Brother Abel GarCIA
Brother Abel Garcia will be joining us at St. Peter Claver Church for the summer months. He is
a simply professed student brother who is currently stationed in Chicago at our house of studies
at St. Joseph’s Friary. A native of El Salvador, Brother Abel met the Franciscan Friars at his
home parish in Durham, North Carolina after living the United States for 12 years. He joined the
Friars in November 2012 and is currently completing his education. He finished his English
program at Loyola University in Chicago this month and will start his undergraduate program in
Chicago in the fall. Brother Abel is looking forward to being an integral part of our parish
community and working in our various ministries. We take this opportunity to welcome him to
St. Peter Claver Church and look forward to having him as a “worker” in the vineyard of the
Lord.
El hermano Abel García se unirá a nosotros en nuestra Iglesia de San Pedro Claver durante el
verano. Abel es un friale estudiante en votos simples que actualmente vive en Chicago en la casa
de estudios en St. Joseph's Friary. Nacido en El Salvador, hermano Abel conoció a los Friales
Franciscanos en la parroquia de Durham, Carolina del Norte, después de vivir en los Estados
Unidos durante 12 años. Se unió a los Frailes en Noviembre del 2012 y actualmente continua su
educación. Terminó su programa de Inglés en la Universidad Loyola de Chicago este pasado mes
y comenzará su programa de pregrado en Chicago en el otoño. Hermano Abel está deseoso de
formar parte de nuestra comunidad parroquial y trabajar en nuestros diversos ministerios.
